In the ruins of an old summer movie theater.
A Woman lives there. She refuses to leave it.
Perhaps she stepped out of the screen.
Perhaps she has always lived here, in this liminal space between reality and fiction.
Both caretaker and ghost.
Persistently, patiently, and in our eyes in vain, she seems to be trying to keep alive something/someone who is leaving. Who has already left.
Character. Actress. Creator. Work of art. Work of nature, Human.
Where do the ideas that never managed to take final shape go? The films, the paintings, the plays, the books, the poems that were never finished? And the people who leave—where do they go? What becomes of the accounts that were never settled? The goodbyes that never turned into embraces? Can the trace of those who are gone inhabit our present, opening a window for us to look the future in the eye?
‘Poèmes Inachevés’ is a performance—a poetic stage composition inspired by the unfinished nature of artistic creation: by all those things that remain unfinished, yet continue to fuel art and life itself.
Through a fragmented dramaturgy, the words left unresolved by the great “poets”—the images, the sounds, the verses, the reflections—seep into the cracks of the performance’s body and grapple with the existential, artistic, and political anguish of a life that wears away and ends, while simultaneously exploring the comforting, humanistic dimension of art.
